Serves: 8 Scones
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Culinary Matcha
  • 1 stick of cold, unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
Lemon Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 Tbsp water
  1. Preheat Oven to 400°. Place Rack in the Middle of the Oven.
  2. Sift together Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Sugar, and Whole Leaf Matcha in a Large Bowl. Whisk until blended.
  3. Cut Cold Butter into Small Pieces and Work it into Dry Mixture with a Pastry Blender. Do Not Overmix.
  4. Sprinkle in Poppy Seeds, gently stir into mixture.
  5. Add Milk only a little at a time. Stir in with fork.
  6. Add Vanilla Extract while working in the Milk.
  7. Line a Baking Sheet with Aluminum Foil.
  8. Turn ball of dough onto a floured surface and roll out into a 9-inch circle.
  9. Cut triangles into the dough and place ½ inch apart on lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 14 minutes, or until edges are slightly browned.
  11. While Scones are in the Oven, make the glaze by whisking together Powdered sugar, lemon juice, and water.
  12. Transfer scones to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes, then glaze.
  13. Serve and enjoy!
